Abstract of this article:
On 24th Feb 2018 night Indian actor Sridevi suddenly passed away in a hotel room under very unusual circumstances while holidaying at Dubai.
This article is an attempt to look at her horoscope and astrological analysis of Dasha-Transit and other indications about sudden unexpected passing away of one of the otherwise vivacious & very successful female actors of Indian films.
This author never had any personal contact with late Sridevi or her family members or friends. The data for casting her horoscope was collected from online sources. The details of her Date of Birth, Time of birth and place of birth as found in internet are 5.30 am on 13th Aug 1963, at Sivakashi, Tamil Nadu, India.
This article is based on analysis of computer generated horoscope based on the above data.
If time of birth is different then only ascendant will change but transit seen from Moon will remain same. However if Time of birth changes then her Ascendant and other Maraka ( deadly) house signs and their planetary Lords will change so will change the Nakshatra of Moon in Cancer ( Karka Rashi) sign which is basis for Vimsottari Dasa of Vedic Astrology.
Nevertheless the horoscope will someway reflect the Maraka (death inflicting) Dasha and Bad Transit effects in case her date of birth and time of birth are different from the data found in internet.
This article is meant purely for Astrological study purposes without any intention to hurt anyone’s sentiments.

Introduction
The Indian female actor Sridevi was an iconic figure of Indian cine-world.In her prime she was hailed as the first female superstar of Indian films who commanded more professional fees than her male counterparts.
Sridevi hailed from Tamil Nadu state of India and had no formal education as she started working in films as a child artist since the age of four. In her short life of five decades she acted in more than 300 films and some Television shows apart from being proficient in painting.
She took a long break from her film career for about 15 years from the year 1997 but made a comeback to film career in the year 2012. In her working career active years were 1967–1997, 2012–2018.
While her second innings in film career was looking up she was in news for multiple plastic surgeries and other related modern medical procedures to enhance her beauty even though she was always appreciated for her natural beauty by Indian film audiences.We do not know how far those media reports are correct.
During her active career Sridevi was awarded several wards for her excellent performance in films and also was awarded Padmashri by Indian government in the year 2013 for her contributions in the field of entertainment.
But suddenly in the night of 24th February 2018 the shocking news of her sad demise at a luxury hotel in Dubai was circulated in media which was initially received with total disbelief by the fans of Sridevi worldwide.
However once the news was confirmed by mainstream media ,initially it was speculated that she passed away due to cardiac arrest though other speculations about side effects of weight-loss medication, crash dieting and multiple plastic surgeries also made news till the TV reports showed the copies of her death certificate two days later citing the reason of her sudden demise as accidental drowning.
Though the certificate shown by media did not specifically mention that she drowned accidentally in her hotel bathroom, it was understood that since she was staying at the hotel and had not left the room for two days prior to her sudden demise, she obviously drowned in the bathtub of the hotel room where she was staying.

As per media report Sridevi had traveled to Dubai and stayed in the hotel along with her husband and one of her daughters to attend the wedding of her husband’s nephew which was scheduled between 18-21st February 2018.While her husband and daughter and other friends and relatives returned to India on 21st Feb 2018 after the completion of the wedding ceremony, Sridevi stayed back alone in the hotel room for some work.
As the sequence of events given by media reports, her husband returned to Dubai on 24th Feb 2018 evening and met her in the hotel room around 5.30pm same day .After fifteen minutes talk with her he wanted to take her out for dinner and she went to bathroom to freshen up.
But till 6-6.10pm she did not come out of the room/ bathroom so her husband Boney Kapoor forced open the door and found her immobile and unconscious in bathtub. He apparently tried to revive her and called one of his friends and then she was apparently taken to hospital (time not mentioned by the media reports).
In the hospital she was declared brought dead and around 9-9.30pm same day her husband called the UAE police and informed about her death.
Time- Event gaps about the event as per media reports;
- As per media reports there were conflicting reports about who found Sridevi in bathtub and under what circumstance.
- It is also not clear from media reports as of now whether she was still alive when her husband Boney Kapoor found her inside water filled bathtub.
- It is not clearly mentioned by media if any medical staff of the hotel were called to attend to her immediately by her husband .
- It is not clearly mentioned in media reports as to when, how and by who she was taken to hospital.
- Her death certificate copies shown by media news do not mention the Time of her death though official postmortem was conducted by UAE authorities and primary police investigation was done before issuing the death certificate.
Against this background let us now analyse the available astrological data

Vedic Astrology Parameters for Life-Event study in individual human beings life:
In Vedic astrology certain parameters are taken as indicative of milestone events of life of any individual like marriage, job, children’s birth, divorce, litigation, career issues, ups and downs and diseases and death related issues.
Three key Vedic Astrological parameters used by this author are –
- Vimsottari Dasha calculated from the Nakshatra of Natal Moon of the native.
The Dasha of Seventh House (in Ascendant chart) Lord and Second house (from Ascendant/ Lagna) lord, Twelfth house lord and that of planets in Second, Seventh and Twelfth house are carefully analysed.
- Planetary Transits (Gochar) from Natal Moon (Moon Rashi) especially that of slower planets like Jupiter and Saturn and to some extent Rahu-Ketu lunar nodes.
In the context of death and debility the transits of Jupiter & Saturn in sixth, eighth, twelfth house from Moon with vedha (neutralisation) factors are taken into account.
- Besides that the 22nd Drekkan/ dreshkona is also checked from D-3 Varga chart for fatality, death and sharp pain and sharp infliction it being Kahresh ( Kahr = cut, engrave,scratch sharp pain etc)
Also at times Badhaka( secret obstructions ) and badhkesha as seen from ascendant for Sthira( Immobile) Rashi( Sign), Moving Rashi( Chara Rashi) and Dual Rashis are checked in case the horoscope is a complex one.

Astrological Analysis of Horoscope of Sridevi vis-à-vis her sudden demise:
The basic data required for casting a Vedic Astrological horoscope are Date of Birth, Time of Birth, and Place of Birth.
The data available about Sridevi in internet are as follows :
- DOB- 13th Aug 1963
- TOB – 5.30am
- POB- Sivkashi, Tamil Nadu, India
From this data the computer generated horoscope gives the following details:
- Ascendant / Lagna- Cancer ( Karka- Ashlesha Nakshatra)
- Moon Sign/ Rashi – Taurus ( Krittika Nakshatra) in 11th House
- Venus and Sun conjunct in ascendant in Ashlesa Nakshatra
- Saturn ( retrograde ) in Seventh House in own sign Capricorn/ Makara Rashi
- Jupiter ( retrograde) in 9th House in own sign Pisces
- Rahu exalted in Gemini in 12th House
- Ketu exalted in 6th House ( Dhanushya/ Saggitarius)
- Mars in third house in Virgo
- Mercury in 2nd house in Leo
- In D-3 Varga Dreshkon/ Drekkan chart Kharesh, lord of 22nd Drekkan ( lord of the 8th house in D-3 chart) is Mercury
It is a very simple horoscope to analyse.
Since in this article we are concerned with only sad sudden untimely demise of the native, hence in this article we will stay focused on that event only, even though other aspects of life events can be easily verified from above data.
Karka Lagna/ Cancer Ascendant has Capricorn for its 7th house and Saturn is lord of both 7th and 8th house. Sun is lord of 2nd house and Mercury is lord of 3rd and 12th houses.

Vimshottari Mahadasha Analysis:
i- Sridevi’s Moon Sign being Karka/ Cancer Sign, she started life with Sun Mahadasha with dash balance being less than 2 years.
ii- She started working in films in 1967 at the age of four in the Mahadasha of Lagna Lord Moon.
iii- For Karka Lagna Mars is the Raj Yoga Karaka and the results are visible in the form of the heights of achievements Sridevi reached at very early age when she got her Mars Mahadasha from June 1975 to June 1982.
iv- Rahu being her Dara Karaka ( spouse indicator in her particular horoscope), she got married in Rahu Mahadasha and in main period of Jupiter she quit her career to be a full time mother and towards end Jupiter she resumed her film career once again.
v- At the time of her death she was running her Saturn Mahadasha which started from June 2016.
vi- Saturn is the lord of the 7th & 8th house in this horoscope.
vii- Saturn Mahadasha is a very long period of time which lasts for 19 long years.
viii- Her Sat-Sat period was to last from June 2016 to mid-June 2019, which was to be followed by Sat- Mercury from June- 2019 to Feb 2022.
ix- This Saturn Mahadasha was most certainly a very important Dasha as far as threat to her longevity was concerned.
x- Saturn being 7th and 8th house lord ,is a deadly Planet for Karka Lagna/ ascendant people and is capable of inflicting death or deathlike pain including prolonged illness, litigation, coma and prolonged and frequent surgeries and resultant complications there by adversely affecting the physical body and looks .
xi- Mercury being Kharesh and lord of death inflicting 22nd drekkan, Kharesh was also a potential danger to the native in ensuing Saturn Mahadasha.

The Mahadasha- Antardasha- Pratyantar dasha etc at the time of the demise of Sridevi were as follows:
1- On 24th Feb 2018 , Sridevi was running Sat Mahadasha- Sat Antardasha- Sun Pratyantardasha- Venus Sukshma dasha- Venus Pada-antardasha and most importantly Saturn Mercury Deha-antradasha.
2- The critical time for Sridevi was this Deha antardasha of Sat-Mercury which lasted from 15.30 hrs on 24th Feb to 2.21am on 25th Feb 2018.
The TV news reports mentioned death time of Sridevi to be between 6pm-9.30pm on 24th Feb 2018.
3- Incidentally Saturn Deha-antardasha lasted from 15. 30hrs (3.30pm) on 24th Feb 2018 to 21.16hrs (9.16 pm) on 24th Feb 2018.
4- It was followed by Mercury deha –antardasha till 2.21 am on 25th Feb 2018.
From the face value of the TV news it is apparent that Sridevi passed away probably around 6pm on 24th Feb somewhere within 30 minutes of her meeting with her husband Boney Kapoor in the room apparently due to accidental drowning in the bathtub.
5- Drowning in water is indicated by Venus Pada-antardasha.
6- In her ascendant Venus –Sun are conjunct in Ashlesa Nakshatra ( which is ruled by Mercury) and Maraka –death inflicting time is indicated by Mahadasha- Antardasha- Pratyantardasha of Maraka Planets Sun- Sat as lords of 2nd and 7th houses respectively.
7- But since Sun and Venus are conjunct in natal chart in Lagna/ ascendant Cancer sign in Ashlesha nakshatra and Ashresha being Sarpa Nakshatra indicates presence of some toxic element either in her blood, (postmortem indicated alcohol traces in her blood) or some toxic element in the water of the bathtub as probable presence during fatal time.
Incidentally Cancer is also a watery sign and many Cancer ascendant natives are known to have died due to drowning, either suicidal or homicidal or accidental.
Had Sridevi some how avoided going to bathroom or taking alcohol during that particular few hours between 15.30pm- 21.16pm in the evening of 24th Feb 2018 , she could have perhaps dodged death for at least few more months but over all danger of death would have hovered on her till at least 2019-22.
And thereafter had she survived beyond the year 2022 then some prolonged illness or hospitalisation would have probably ended her life in Sat- Sun between June 2026- May 2027 under equally unexpected circumstances . But by then she would have crossed the age of sixty and her demise then would not have caused such shock .

Analysis of effect of current Jupiter Transit and Saturn Transit :
i- The Moon sign of Sridevi was Taurus.
ii- For Taurus Rashi natives Jupiter is currently transiting the malefic 6th house and Saturn is transiting malefic 8th house from natal moon.
iii- There is no vedha factor for Taurus rashi natives to neutralise these malefic Transits/ Gocharas.
iv- 6th house transit highlights diseases, change of job, toxin, food issues, medication, divorces/ separation / end of partnership / court cases/ enemies among many other things.
v- 8th house transits indicate surgery, hole in the body, hospitalisation, secret enemy, secret money, in-laws,longevity,sudden changes, sudden loss of consciousness,foreign lands ( Saturn transit indicates western direction foreign lands), shared money, alimony, sudden death and resuscitation,failed relationships, career changes ( end of one phase of career and arrival of new), law suits, etc among other things.
vi- So Saturn transit in 8th house since the year 2017 indicates lots of physical and emotional changes in Sridevi. While it also indicated sudden loss of consciousness and death, it also indicated revival possibility due to timely intervention.
vii- Revival was a possibility since Saturn rules both 7th and 8th houses in her natal chart.
Hence it is very critical to know what exactly happened between 3.30pm- 9.30 pm of 24th Feb 2018.
Media reports are not very detailed so far about exact sequence of events and if any medical staff of the Hotel reached her on time , what was the time gap in revival efforts and who all attended to her within the critical period between 5.30pm- 9.30 pm after she allegedly went for bath and was found unconscious/ dead.

The presence of Kahresh Mercury time in deha-antardasha between 9.16pm on 24th Feb 2018 to 2.16 am on 25th Feb 2018 indicates infliction of some wound by some sharp object which if happened can be verified from forensic report if at all it is made public in future.
But since it is a very unexpected death under mysterious circumstances this author feels that the circumstances of Sridevi’s death needs a proper police investigation to rest all speculations and to clarify all gaps in time-event chart leading to and immediately after her death.
Whether proper resuscitation and revival procedure were given to her immediately after she was found in bathroom is a very key question given the indication of fatal astrological indications.
Summary;
The combined analysis of Mahadahsa and Transit effects for this chart clearly indicates that Sridevi was going through a very distressing time physically and emotionally. Physically more distressing due to Maraka Mahadasha and sudden changes indicated by bad transits aggravated the situation.
I do not know if Sridevi or her family believed in astrology or consulted any astrologer, but had they done so these Maraka and extremely bad time-events could have been brought to their notice.
Though death is a certainty for all of us yet under certain circumstances certain Vedic counter measures can be adopted to mitigate the situation and the inevitable can be delayed for some time if certain benevolent blessings are available in time.

In Sridevi’s case timely forecast and timely assistance would have kept her alive at least till the year 2026-27.
Here the author would like to emphasise that Vedic Astrology (Vedanga Jyotish) is neither superstition nor black-magic. Vedic Astrology is one of the applied aspects of Vedic Astronomy, the other aspects being Vedic Mantras and Vedic Astras.
In Vedic Astrology, on the basis of spherical geometry Astronomical data is worked out from birth time etc data which is further supplemented by Transit astronomy data.
The interpretation are based on the data so worked out mathematically and that data is interpreted by using different methods like weather forecast analysis is done by modern science by using atmospheric data.
Apart from general principles there are certain advanced interpretation rules and intuitive insight which are key to interpretation of data.
Mostly orthodox hereditary Vedic Astrologers have that insight and Astrology Talent proficiency, whereas others in general have access to general texts which are at times difficult to interpret. And Astrology talent is not a widely available talent.
Sridevi was a talented actor who excelled despite her lack of formal education or formal training in Art of Acting.Her horoscope Mahadasha gave her that elusive stroke of very prolonged good luck and success to shine above others.
Her untimely demise is a great loss to media craft and her death circumstances are needed to be properly investigated to figure out the secret angles which is indicated by 8th house transit of Saturn in her chart as there seems to be much to the incident than that meets the eye.
Every human life is valuable and that of talented people is most valued. Hence the concern and analysis of her astrological Horoscope to have a detailed idea about the time-event indicated from astrological angle.
And as I have already emphasised Astrology is not superstition. It is a study based on astronomical data and it should not be dismissed just because it is part of our Vedic- Hindu Tradition and is not part of any other system of modern English education.
Every system of study is a quest to improve human life and to understand mysterious indications of time- events in human life.
Hope law keepers take note of unusual circumstances of Sridevi’s sad untimely demise and probe into it further to find out the truth and tell the world whether the accidental drowning was , suicidal or homicidal or naturally accidental and whether she received timely proper medical assistance that would have helped her revival .
Life can’t be restored to her by the prevailing medical technology available to humanity in our era and while we learn astrological lessons from her life events at least justice should be done to her in case it was something other than just another natural accidental drowning .
